Is it over YET?

I am referring to the school year. This is crazy. I am sure that I had some school years that seemed to drag on forever, but I don't recall ANY that have lasted as long as this one seems to. It doesn't help that the girls are not exactly thrilled in their classes this year. It has been a particularly hard one for Kayti. It wasn't the teacher that she thought she was going to have. Then, it wasn't the teacher that was supposed to make up for the one she thought she was going to have. Then, she found out at least her best friends were in the class with her, it couldn't be too bad. Guess what? It has been. In all fairness, she is 12, so even the littlest things seem insurmountable right now. The main issue in both of the girls' classes is that there are a couple of kids that seem to ruin it for everyone. These kids will get into trouble and the whole class will be punished. My year seems to be extra long because not only am I dealing with my class stresses, but then I have to hear the girls complaining about the things that aren't fair. I see things from both sides of the story (teacher and mommy).

I JUST WANT IT TO BE OVER WITH THIS YEAR!!

Kayti has her top and bottom braces on, as does Sean. They look nice and I keep trying to get a picture. When I remember to take one, one or the other isn't home. Stay tuned to your favorite blog for an upcoming picture. I am going to try REALLY HARD to get one posted this afternoon!!

On some better news, Keeli was accepted to our local charter school for the upcoming school year!! It is a brand new school and we waited with baited breath to see if her name was chosen in the lottery. She is excited, although a bit nervous, about changing schools. Sean has gone to several board meetings and feels like she will really enjoy this new adventure. Kayti was also accepted, however she has chosen to attend the local Jr. High in order to stay with her best friends. Keeli has found out some of the kids she knows will also be attending the charter school. That helps her anxiety some, and besides, Keeli can make friends with a tree!!

So, with 55 days (AND COUNTING) of school left, we keep trudging along. We take it day by day and remember that it doesn't last forever!
