Kayti's Night!

About a week ago, I received a letter in the mail. Well, actually, it was addressed to Kayti and it was from a personal residence in Tooele. Hmmm...it wasn't any address that I was familiar with. Being the concerned parent that I am (read: nosy), I opened it. Now, I don't make a habit of opening my daughter's mail, but in this day and age...I digress. So, it is an invitation to an awards ceremony. Kayti had placed second at the school level for her PTA Reflections project and it had gone on to the Region Level. This ceremony was to recognize all the kids that had made it that far. It was also to recognize the winners at the Region Level that will continue on to the State Level. The letter was very ambigious. We didn't know if Kayti had won at the Region Level or not. I asked her if she wanted to miss her dance practice to go (as luck would have it, the awards ceremony was the exact same time as her dance practice). She decided we would go to the ceremony. Even if her entry didn't continue on, she still did a great job making it that far.

So...off we went last night. It seemed to take forever. They recognized the participants that didn't make it to the finals first. On and on...there are many different categories in which to enter. We waited, we waited...Kayti's name wasn't called! That meant that she was a finalist!! Finally, they got around to calling the finalist names. We waited, we waited...Literature was the last category called. Kayti's name was the second to the last name called. Geez Louise...drag it out a little, why don't they???

So, she made it to the finals and now her entry goes to the State Level, where it will compete in her age bracket from entries of many schools all over Utah.

Considering how much *I* love to write, I was really hoping it would get passed on. I know that Keeli loves to write, but Kayti has never been a big fan of it.

Way to go, Kayti!!
