Ah September... we are finally getting into the school groove. It was NOT easy letting go of the summer. As a matter of fact, except for Sean, we all were holding on to it with everything that we had. Alas, it has slipped away from us.
The girls are enjoying school this year. 6th grade has Kayti wondering how in the world she is going to get all her work done. I keep telling her that she has it easy. When *I* was in 6th grade, I had much more work. Not only that, but it was harder too. Maybe it is just because I am older now and the 6th grade work that I am seeing *is* easy. Keeli has the 3rd grades most coveted teacher. She has science experiments almost every day. This is certainly a good thing. A daughter that is great in math, is loving science and has a teacher that LOVES to teach both? Oh, the possibilities this could bring!
Here is a picture from the first day of school. It was actually taken with my cell phone, so the quality isn't as good. I must have been having a brain cramp to not take it with my regular camera....
I am still learning the ins and outs of my job this year. I went from being a Spec Ed aide, to teaching the Computer Lab class. It is different. Rather than being responsible for one or two kids, now I have several classes a day that I have to keep control over. I am enjoying it, but like anything, it has its moments!!
Kayti has dance practice twice a week now. Some weeks it is even three times a week. I was able to sneak a peek at practice when I picked her up yesterday. Her team is looking great. She has to do a back walkover in one of her dances. It has been a good two years since she did any gymnastics at all. The skill is still there...the same can't be said for the limberness. She came out of practice saying "Mom, I really, REALLY need to practice my walkovers!!"
Keeli has been playing goalie for her team in soccer. She does well, and is not afaid to challenge ANYONE! Great soccer players run in my family, so who knows? I know that she wants to go competitive instead of just rec soccer. What if my baby gets hurt? Who am I kidding? You should see all the bruises this little girl has already.
Sean is working hard for us as usual. He spends some of his time out on the road driving, and some of it in the office playing bossman. I think he likes the extra responsibility, but prefers to be out driving. There have been times lately though, that as multi-talented as he is, he was able to do both at the same time.
